Services Introduction

Disability, daringly. We are a Disability Justice business that helps socially conscious organisations become anti-ableist brands.

For us, it's about equity as a foundation rather than equality because "...Equity is giving everyone what they need to be successful, whereas equality is treating everyone the same. Equality aims to promote fairness, but it can only work if everyone starts from the same place and needs the same help. Equity may appear unfair, but it actively moves everyone closer to success by 'leveling the playing field.' But not everyone starts at the same place, and not everyone has the same needs..." If you're interested, read this fascinating article on why equity is needed.

However, for us, justice is our tool, and liberation is the goal of our work every day. Ultimately, our mission is to support the (re)imagining of every socially conscious brand into a fully anti-ableist organisation, all in aid of collective liberation for all.

Equality and equity example through people on bicycles

Equality and equity example with four people (wheelchair user, tall person, short person, and child) and bicycles. Equality has them all on a same size bike. The person in the chair can't use it. Equity has a different bike for each person. Hand-propelled, large, medium, and small sizes.

Equality, equity, and justice, example through people on boxes and a fence

Equality, equity, and justice example with three sized people (various skin tones) trying to enjoy the view with a fence. Equality has everyone on the same size block, so only two people see the view over the fence. Equity has different sized boxes so everyone is over the fence. Justice removed the fence entirely so everyone can enjoy the view.

Quote
DIVERSITY should be a given; INCLUSION is our practice; EQUITY is our tool; JUSTICE is our mission; so that LIBERATION is our GOAL.
